Stupid Roy City Cops!

OKAY! So I just need to vent for a minute. First of all I have never had a ticket in my life and I didn't plan on getting one either. Unfortunately that changed yesterday because of a wonderful police officer in Roy. So let me tell you the story and tell you also that you should never pull over a 9 month pregnant woman cuz her blood pressure rises and then she has scary contractions all night long. Anyway, so I'm turning left from 1900 to get on the freeway in Roy and I had a green arrow. So I turn and turn into the left lane, flip my blinker on, and get into the right lane really fast so I can get on the freeway. Well Mr. Police Officer is sitting in the old Denny's parking lot and the minute I get over to the right lane he flips on his lights and honks his little horn and pulls me over. WHAT THE FETCH? Now I have no idea why I'm being pulled over but I sit there and wait to be told what I did wrong. So get this... Apparently I wasn't in the left lane for more than 2 SECONDS before I got into the right lane and so that's a left turn violation. Who knew? I was in there long enough to flip my blinker on but whatever. Maybe I just count faster than he does. So anyway, he takes all my info and I'm thinking he'll come back and give me a warning cuz who would give a ticket for something as lame as that? Apparently he does. So he comes back and gives me a citation and I have to call and either do traffic school, pay the ticket ( which the amount isn't even on the ticket) or contest it in court. So what would you all do in my situation?

oh you poor thing! I do have to laugh...i've been pulled over so many times now it's not even funny! The last time was driving from morgan to ogden just before we moved to OH. I was headed to work....going a little fast. The sad thing is when i saw the cop on the opposite side of the freeway flip around in the median i just laughed because i knew i was busted!! The funny thing is i don't even get nervous anymore! Luckily i snuck off with a warning! (knock on wood...now i'll get pulled over next week)

SOOOOO...that is seriously the lamest reason to get pulled over. I think i would have just laughed at him for that....really, isn't there some crime to be stopping out there?! Did you tell him if you waited a full two seconds you would have missed the on-ramp?! See how much the ticket is first and if it will go on your record...if not i'd just pay it. Nobody wants to sit in those traffic school classes...especially 8 mos preggers! Good luck!

Yes, i'm getting bigger. I know, i need a new pic up. Maybe this weekend! I spent like 2 1/2 hours in Babies R Us today just wandering around...you can really get sucked in in there!!

lame! Doesn't that just ruin your day? I think they are really cracking down on people everywhere. I recently got pulled over TWICE within two weeks, both for little things. Luckily I got off with warnings (don't ask me how). My past experience (which is sadly pretty extensive when it comes to tickets) is that you seldomly win when you try to fight it. The little guy never wins when it comes to law enforcement. But hey, maybe it's worth it in this case. I will try and remember the two second rule though... I'm sorry! I feel your pain.

I recently had to fight a stupid ticket in court, for "failure to wear a seatbelt" but the sad thing... I had my seatbelt on! But of course I had no way of proving it, so I got a "reduced fine" so instead of the $120 I only had to pay $80 sometimes I think cops are so STUPID! Good luck if you chose to fight it, my experience tells me you are guilty until PROVEN innocent!

That cop must not have been loved as a child.

Contest it in court. It'll be a pain to go sit through the court crap but you've got a good chance of at least getting the fee reduced.

I think it must have been the same cop who (years ago) pulled over Robert Dana's mom for driving "erotically." Yep, we laughed about that for a REALLY long time. hehehe

I would fight it. Maybe you could milk the pregnancy situation. When you walk up to the judge you should limp and hold up your belly..maybe moan a little. That could work. If it doesn't when you contest it a lot of the time the judge will reduce the ticket and take points off of your licsence. I don't like cops... I think while you are in drivers ed they should go over the stupid rules the cops have just so we know them. Hope all goes well in court!

The sad thing is that most of the time, the judges side with the cops because of all of their lingo. I've fought two tickets- neve my own- and lost every one. Good luck.
